This series documents my initial drive to translate the raw energy of letters and graffiti onto canvas. These early explorations laid the foundation for key concepts and visual language that continue to shape my current body of work.
Graffiti and urban art is temporary. It gets cleaned or painted over. Thats why many layers of paint appear on top of each other in the urban environment. This circumstance makes graffiti a rare commodity. The works of the series show this dialogue of order or cleanliness and the attempt to break out of it.
Process:
I made use of the same influencing factors that urban art is exposed to: cleaning and painting over. By working in several sessions, each artwork is created layer by layer.
